The European DEMOSOFC project, coordinated by the Department of Energy at the Politecnico di Torino, is aimed at demonstrating the technical and economic feasibility of fuel cells in biogas plants. It has now given the green light to the biggest biogas-fed solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) plant in Europe. The plant involved is the wastewater treatment facility at Collegno, Turin.

And the advantages? High electrical efficiency, flexibility and zero emissions into the atmosphere. An ideal solution, therefore, above all for small-scale treatment plants.
