There are a number of drivers behind development in the sector, foremost among which is the federal “Renewable Fuel Standard” programme which grants an incentive per gallon of RNG produced from biogas. This incentive compensates for the ending of electricity incentives and could help to achieve an installable potential of 14,000 new biogas plants.
