European projects for biogas and the circular economy: two examples
Research
Five biogas plants in five European countries are reclaiming the mineral nutrients in organic refuse, improving the quality of the digestate as a fertiliser. The project is called Systemic and is supported by Biorefine and the University of Ghent. Professor Erik Meers also talks about another project - ReciDigest - that is studying how to increase the total conversion potential of digestible organic material by applying innovative disintegration and recirculation techniques.
