Collective and individual agreements in Brazil’s biogas projects: Web Talk with Cibiogas
Market and policy
Individual or collective projects? We spoke with Cibiogas about the different structures of a biogas project in Brazil! If in the first case the production of biogas – and subsequently of electricity, heat or biomethane – compete with a single owner, in the second case, multiple stakeholders are at play, who all share the resources, investments and risks associated with the project. An example of the latter type is the biogas project commissioned by the municipality of Entre Rios do Oeste (in the state of Paraná) where 18 farms collaborate together to produce 4,600 m3 of biogas per day. The biogas is subsequently purchased by the municipality, which in turn uses it to generate electricity and heat for citizens.
