Austria: investments in biogas at record high in 2005. What is the trend for the future?
Market and policy
Following an extremely positive growth between 2002 and 2007, investments in biogas plants in Austria recorded a drastic decline due to a lack of incentives. Overall, however, more than 3,500 new jobs have been created, which could double with the introduction of new incentives. From an economic standpoint, the greatest revenues for the sector derive from the production of electricity, biomethane and thermal energy.
