The Low-carbon fuel standard (LCFS) is part of a package of regulations aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The goal is to decarbonise transport by opting for low-carbon alternative fuels. Major steps were taken in this direction in California and the results are expected to continue to improve through the strong contribution guaranteed by renewable natural gas (RNG), which today accounts for 68% of the natural gas used in the state, while fossil natural gas is only at 32%.
