With RED II, the Renewable Energy Directive, the EU is moving to make new alternative fuels available in the transport sector. In order to implement the Directive, Germany has also set a target to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in the transport sector by 40% by 2030. For these reasons, the country is waiting for new incentives for the production of biomethane, whose contribution, as the German Biogas Association explains, has been recognised as key for mitigating climate change.
