Costa Rica: two rival slaughterhouses join forces to generate biogas from organic waste
Industry and WWT
In Costa Rica, a partnership between two rival slaughterhouses has led to the construction of a biogas plant for the disposal of organic waste and purification sludge. The biogas generated from the codigestion plant is turned into steam and used in the production processes of one of the two slaughterhouses. The project faced a considerable number of difficulties over authorisation and tax exemption.
