Just outside Vienna, 12MWh/day of electricity for a company producing compost and special soil mixtures
Case history
Since the late ‘90s, the Lengel family has been operating in Marchfeld in the production of high-quality composts and special soil mixtures for landscaping gardening, sports ground construction and roof greening. The company treats the waste from the whole district (15,000 tonnes of waste each year), and thanks to two biogas plants it produces every day 12 MW of electricity and heat. The electrical energy is entirely sold to the grid, while the thermal one is used in the offices and in the sanitisation process.
