California’s largest urban organic waste conversion centre is in Los Angeles, and it produces biogas
Landfill and Waste
Los Angeles is the location of one of the largest US plants for the conversion of organic waste into renewable energy. The gas generated by this waste, produced in 5 digesters, is employed to produce electricity and heat using several turbines. What makes this project special? The fact that it is a perfect example of California’s ability to reduce the impact of urban refuse by exploiting existing infrastructures.
