From 2017 the Italian national network now carries the definitive renewable gas: biomethane/RNG
What is biomethane/RNG?
From the first input in June 2017, SNAM, which builds and manages natural gas infrastructures, has received more than 500 expressions of interest in connecting to the network to input biomethane/RNG; these will soon become formal requests after the recent approval of the biomethane decree (March 2018). There are many producers wishing to emulate Montello spa, the first company in Italy to input biomethane - produced by processing organic waste from urban separate refuse collection - into the national transmission network.
