In this Web Talk we met with Sabia, the Southern African Biogas Industry Association. Sabia is a non-profit organization that represents and supports the development of the biogas sector in South Africa. The Association has estimated a potential of 1,200 MW for the sector (to date only 30 MW have been installed, while the average size of a plant is 0.5 MW). For this reason, Sabia aims, on a daily basis, to make the Government aware of the adoption of an incentive tariff, to introduce safety standards on plants and to reduce and simplify the project authorization procedures. These and Sabia’s other efforts in South Africa’s biogas sector are explored in the video.
