Ireland is one of the countries with the highest potential for the production of agricultural biomethane, thanks to over 120,000 agricultural operators in the area and the tremendous amount of biomass available for anaerobic digestion. Despite this, the lack of a State promoted incentive to support the injection of biomethane into the gas network is holding back the development of the sector. Fortunately, the important activities of reference Associations, such as the Irish Bioenergy Association, could soon lead to a turning point.
