Recovery of the organic matter from mixed solid waste: introducing the new extruder press
Anaerobic digestion
How can the organic matter be recovered from mixed solid waste without a significant amount of refuse being sent to landfill and incinerators? Thanks to a new technology, known as the organic extruder press, it is now possible to separate the organic matter from mixed solid waste and send it for anaerobic digestion. Regardless of the degree of contamination any organic product can be made suitable for biogas production.
The press, the OREX, has already been installed at two sites: in San Francisco and Toronto.
