Thanks to a new technology, known as the Organics Extrusion Press, it is now possible to separate the organic matter from mixed solid waste and send it for anaerobic digestion. Regardless of the degree of contamination any organic product can be made suitable for biogas production.
The press, the OREX, has already been installed at two sites: in San Francisco and Toronto.
