The Mechanical Area of the University of Bari's ‘DISAAT’ Department has carried out some interesting research in the sphere of anaerobic digestion from olive oil by-products.  The project is based on implementing a cryogenic process for the treatment of gases such as biogas or syngas to produce low-cost biomethane, hydrogen, carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide.
