How the new EEG is changing the German biogas market
Market and policy
With the new Renewable Energy Act (EEG) which comes into effect from 1st January 2017, we move to a system based on auctions where plant owners will have to compete to obtain subsidies. This will hinder the installation of new plants, while for the existing ones the funding period may be increased by 10 years and 16.9 cents per kW/h of electricity fed into the grid could be received in the future.
