Compost and green energy from food waste to power a city with 20,000 inhabitants
Case history
In a small city in the north east of Italy there is the BIOMAN headquarters, a company that has decided to focus on organic waste, transforming it into a high economic and environmental value resource. Kitchen waste is collected door to door from each home in the area and brought here, to be used for composting or producing electricity and heat. In fact, thanks to four 998KW endothermic engines, cogeneration enables the production of “green” electricity that is sufficient to supply the consumption of a city with more than 20,000 inhabitants.
