Beet as an alternative matrix for Biogas production in Latvia
Research
To identify alternative biomass options to corn silage, several matrices have been tested at the Latvia University of Agriculture including amaranth, hemp, sunflowers, Jerusalem artichokes, legumes and micro-algae. Beet emerged as the most profitable and suitable option for the dry climate of Latvia. Vilis Dubrovskis lists all the advantages of using beet to fuel a biogas plant.
